After a jury deliberated for two hours on Tuesday, they returned with a guilty verdict on Michael Dixon.

Dixon has been found guilty of Murder in the First Degree.

Following the last of witnesses coming to testify on Tuesday, the defense called Investigators Joe Merkley and John Snowden back to the stand, followed by Dixon.

Washington County District Attorney Julie Renken says punishment begins this (Wednesday) morning at 9 a.m., and should wrap up in about a day.

Dixon was initially charged with the capital murder of Blinn College student Trey Kurtz, along with three other suspects: Deperrion Lott, Jordan Alexander Graves, and J.B. Wright III.

Renken says the case of J.B. Wright III is pending, but she does not currently anticipate the need to try him.  Wright III has testified several times in the current trial.

According to Renken, the trial for Deperrion Lott will begin October 15th at 9 a.m.  Lott is also being charged with a second-degree felony, for involvement in a riot at the Washington County Jail in June of 2017.

A trial for Jordan Alexander Graves has not been set, as Renken is waiting to hear word on the defense attorney’s availability.  The trial for Graves is being considered for March of 2019.
