BRENHAM POLICE JOIN BURLESON CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE, EXECUTE SEARCH WARRANTS IN CLAY

Four people have been arrested, after a joint law enforcement raid in Burleson County.

On Thursday, the Brenham Police Department Crime Reduction Unit, the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office, and federal agencies like the DEA and ATF, executed several search warrants in the community of Clay.

Washington County District Attorney Julie Renken said Robert “Bobby” Crawford was the main target of the operation.  Crawford was suspected to be the leader of a crime ring.

Law enforcement located guns, drugs, and stolen property at three residences in Clay.  Crawford, along with Latetrick “Tedddy” Sessums, were taken into federal custody, to face charges from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Austin.  Two others, Asonya Flowers Crawford and Tevin Devault, are in custody for state charges.

Investigation prior to Thursday’s operation goes back more than two years, involving several more un-named accomplices.

In a statement issued by Burleson County Sheriff Thomas Norsworthy, he said Crawford had been a problem in the area for around a decade.  He said the arrest of Crawford will make a large impact in Burleson and surrounding counties.

Renken thanked the efforts of all local, state, and federal agencies involved in investigation and the operation.

    1. I’m also curious to why it took so long and long story short. The community of Clay is between Washington and Burleson Co. I don’t think either wanted to go into this area alone due to the past problems so when you team up with other agencies who are trained for this type of issue it makes the whole area safer for the obeying citizens not be in any danger or harm! It’s a plus to caption these guys/girls but I’m sure they’ll be out Monday morning or afternoon after posting bond then never show up for court and the cycle goes on and on! Great Job all involved!!!
