WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS OIL LEASE BIDS ON SCHOOL LAND

Washington County Commissioners will look to advertise for an oil, gas and mineral lease on the county’s owned school land when they meet tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

Commissioners will consider seeking bids on nearly 700 acres of land in Tom Green County.  The land, close to San Angelo, is used for minerals, farming and hunting.  Revenue is distributed to the Brenham and Burton ISD’s annually, based on average daily attendance.

This year, Brenham ISD received $261,590, while Burton ISD received $24,144.  Over the past fiscal year, the land generated $237,777 from farming leases and $71,075 in hunting leases.

In other items, commissioners will potentially approve an agreement with Rutledge Crain and Company, for auditing services for the county ending on December 31st.

The court will also discuss a memo of understanding between Washington County EMS and Texas A&M Engineering Extension, for float boat operator training.

In addition, the court will consider appointing a replacement judge for the central counting station for November’s General Election.

Commissioners will also look at a formal notice for a proposed above-ground water line, to be placed in county right-of-way of Old Mill Creek Road and Wildflower Road, in Precinct 4.

The court will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
