CITY OF BRENHAM RECOGNIZED FOR FINANCIAL REPORTING FOR 10TH STRAIGHT YEAR

The City of Brenham has been recognized for excellence in financial reporting for ten years running.

At Thursday’s Brenham City Council meeting, Chief Financial Officer Carolyn Miller announced the city had been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, for its annual report ending in September of last year.  This marks the tenth year in a row that the city has received the award.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), giver of the award, says the certificate is the top form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.  The GFOA says the award is “a significant accomplishment by a government and its management”.

Miller said the finance team, under Comptroller Stacy Hardy, works “diligently and professionally throughout the year”, and their efforts show in the annual financial report.  She congratulated the team on receiving the award, saying it’s an honor to work with and lead them.
