ONE DEAD AT THE SCENE OF GRIMES CO. ACCIDENT

  

Update #2 @3:25 p.m.:  One person is dead, and another injured, after a two-vehicle accident this (Tuesday) morning on Highway 30 in Grimes County.

Just after 8:30 a.m., a car and a pickup collided east of County Road 190 at Ada Oaks, near the community of Carlos.

According to DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan, a 2008 Mazda passenger vehicle was headed westbound on Highway 30, when it attempted to pass in a no-passing zone.  The car collided head-on with an eastbound Ford pickup.

The driver of the car, identified as 20-year-old Amanda Irish of Marble Falls, was killed in the crash.

The driver of the pickup, 25-year-old Austin Tottingham of Waller, was taken by ambulance to CHI St. Joseph in Bryan, with non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic was shut down in both directions on Highway 30 for several hours.  The highway has since been reopened.

Authorities have confirmed that one woman is dead.  There is no word on any other injuries.

Traffic is shut down in both directions.  DPS is at the scene.
