RICK FIGUEROA RUNNING FOR NRA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

A Brenham man has announced his candidacy for the National Rifle Association (NRA) board of directors.

Rick Figueroa

Rick Figueroa, a graduate of Texas A&M who works at a financial firm in Houston, serves as Coordinator of the NRA’s Committee on Outreach, working with minority communities.

Figueroa also serves as a member of the National Hispanic Advisory Council and the Hispanic 100, an organization that works to share free market principles in Hispanic communities nationwide.

In 2016, he was appointed to serve on the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation, and was recently named chairman.  His term will expire in February of 2021.

Figueroa believes the NRA is “the last line of defense” of Americans’ rights to own firearms without government limitations.  He said there are several leadership challenges stemming from attacks on the Second Amendment, but the NRA is working to “address those issues on behalf of many groups of people”.

The NRA board is made up of 75 members with 25 rotating each year off the board.  Figueroa is one of 35 candidates up for consideration.

Lifetime and five-year-plus NRA members can vote for candidates by submitting a ballot to the organization’s headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia.  Ballots are found in NRA magazines.  Voting can also be done by attending the NRA Convention held from April 26th to the 28th in Indianapolis.
