OVERNIGHT POLICE STANDOFF LEADS TO ARREST
A Corsicana man is in custody after an overnight standoff with Brenham Police.

46-year old Daniel Burks was wanted on charges of Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child and Sexual Assault of a Child.
Police located Burks in the 1500 block of Farewell St., near the intersection of Highway 290 and Prairie Lee St.
The Brenham Crime Reduction Unit and fellow officers surrounded the area after Burks barricaded himself in the residence.
After numerous attempts to negotiate a peaceful surrender, Brenham’s Special Response Team was called to the scene.
After more failed negotiations, the SRT deployed tear gas into the residence. Shortly after, Burks was located and placed into custody without further incident.
Burks was taken to the Washington County Jail.
