WALLER CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARNS PUBLIC OF PHONE SCAMS

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office is cautioning against a series of recent phone scams.

The Sheriff’s Office states in a release it has received several calls in regards to people calling and identifying themselves as a deputy.

The scammers say they have a warrant or ticket, or demand money for payment owed.  According to the release, one report stated a caller demanded $1,500, and threatened the subject would be arrested if they did not comply.

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office maintains it will never call and demand money from citizens.  If anyone receives a call similar to this, they are asked to hang up and report the call to the Sheriff’s Office, by calling 979-826-8282.
