BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER STREET REPAIRS

  

The Burton City Council will meet Tuesday to consider street repairs at the corner of Texas and Railroad Streets.

According to City Secretary Angela Harrington, Washington County Road and Bridge is estimating a cost of $2,200 for repairs. She said this would involve redoing the whole corner and putting in a new culvert.

The city has previously worked on other street projects, such as resurfacing South Brazos Street and part of Colorado Street.

The council will also consider declaring guidelines regarding commercial filming in the city. Harrington said a Burton resident, who is active in the filming industry, has recommended trying to get Burton to be more involved in the industry.  She said these guidelines would cover such items as what times filming can be done, along with other procedures.

Also in session, the council will look at approving a list of requirements and application for residents to submit before requesting a variance to the mobile home ordinance. At its last meeting, the council rendered a mobile home ordinance granted in February null and void, due to incorrect information provided to the council.

Councilmembers will also consider a variance to allow Charles Harmel (property owner) and Kelsey Harmel/Tanner Demuth (homeowner) to place a new mobile home at 1601 FM 1697. They will also look at a resolution to adopt the Washington County Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The council will meet Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m., at Burton City Hall.
