SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL LOCAL ENTITIES IN APRIL

  

Washington County, Brenham and Burton all experienced moderate increases in sales and tax distributions this month.

April’s rebate for Washington County was $250,853, a 20.3 percent uptick over last April’s refund of $208,436.  So far in 2019, the county has received $1,059,459, a 15 percent increase over last year’s $920,768 over the same period.

Brenham received $543,746 in April, a 13.1 percent bump over the rebate of $480,391 it received last April.  Through the year so far, Brenham has received $2,227,680, up 6.2 percent from last year’s payment to date, at $2,095,878.

Burton’s rebate in April was $6,059, compared to last April’s payment of $5,108, an 18.6 percent increase.  For the year, Burton has received $28,012, 21.1 percent more from last year’s $23,115.

According to Comptroller Glenn Hegar, the state paid out $705.3 million in April, up 8.4 percent from last April, and up 5.5 percent for the year so far.
