Navasota Police are investigating a one-vehicle rollover that ended up on the lawn at the Navasota City Hall.

On Friday morning just before 2am, Navasota Police dispatch received a report of a loud noise outside the City Hall building, followed shortly by a 911 call regarding a one-vehicle rollover crash.

The dispatcher observed through City Hall’s video surveillance cameras that a truck had come to rest on its side in the eastern lawn of City Hall. Navasota Police, Navasota Fire, and EMS responded to the scene.

Firefighters safely removed the driver from the vehicle. The driver sustained minor injuries and was evaluated by EMS.

According to the driver, he was traveling southbound on Business 6 when he fell asleep. The truck struck a curb at the intersection of Washington Avenue and LaSalle Street, resulting in tire damage and loss of control of the vehicle. The truck subsequently rolled onto the City Hall lawn.

Officers observed damage to the City Hall lighting and electrical infrastructure, as well as several trees on the property.

Investigators observed no signs or indicators of intoxication. Fatigue and speed were identified as the contributing factors in the crash.

No additional injuries were reported.
