BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO COVER HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS

The Burton School Board will go through a series of routine business items at their meeting Monday.

Board members will look at contracts for the Burton Special Services Cooperative, which include diagnostician and speech services.

According to Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy, since Burton ISD is the fiscal agent and managing district for the cooperative, recommendations to hire special services personnel have to be approved by the board.

Also in session, the board will look at approving an adjustment to next year’s budget for an increased premium for dental and vision contributions. The district provides dental and vision contributions for all employees.

The board will also consider approval of Region VI Education Service Center contract agreements, along with the approval of Lightspeed as the district’s Internet content filter provider. Dr. Kennedy said these agreements are annual renewals for services provided in the district.

Board members will also consider a resolution extending a depository contract, which Dr. Kennedy said is an annually required agreement that allows the district to transact banking business.

The board will also hear a series of reports from the elementary and high school principals, athletic director, and superintendent. There will also be a presentation from Board President Demetrius Colvin on board training credits.

The board will then adjourn into executive session to discuss district safety and security, as well as contracts for teachers and special services employees.

The board will meet Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., in the Burton ISD Administration Office.
