30TH ANNUAL BURTON COTTON GIN FESTIVAL SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

America’s oldest operating cotton gin will be home this weekend to the 30th Annual Burton Cotton Gin Festival.

The fun kicks off tomorrow (Friday) night with an all-you-can-eat shrimp boil and live auction at the Burton Community Center, starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday’s activities begin at 10 a.m. with the Main Street Parade in downtown Burton.  Burton Cotton Gin Museum Director Steph Jarvis says following that will be a jam packed day full of fun and history.

Other activities will include an antique tractor show and pull, petting zoo, tours, folk life demonstrations and exhibits.

Jarvis says there will also be several contests throughout the day to bring out people’s competitive spirit.

Live entertainment for Saturday includes Robert Zientek, Allison and the Texas Two by Fours, and the Dujka Brothers.

All of Saturday’s events are free, but contributions to the museum are welcome.  To learn more, visit www.texascottonginmuseum.org.
