WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO POTENIALLY SEEK UNCLAIMED CAPITAL CREDITS
Washington County Commissioners will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) morning to consider putting in a request for unclaimed electric cooperative credits.
Commissioners will look at applying for the county’s portion of capital credits unclaimed by former customers of Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.
State law allows the Texas Comptroller to distribute portions of these unclaimed capital credits back to the counties in a coop’s service area. If a coop loses contact with a previous customer, it reports capital credits to the comptroller as unclaimed property, which can then be requested and claimed from the county of service in which they came from.
Bluebonnet Electric authorized $3.76 million in capital credits to its members this year. Capital credits are typically reserved for member-owners of the cooperative, not unlike dividends that investors receive from for-profit companies.
The amount available to a county is determined by the comptroller’s office, based on a county’s total capital credits paid per reporting year, minus estimated claims.
Commissioners will also look at three utility installation applications. The county will consider applications for: a 4-inch road bore from PGMS-Central Washington County Water Supply Corporation, for the 3009 Creekside Drive intersection for a water line replacement in Precinct 3; a 4-inch road bore from PGMS, for 4255 Genes Lane for a water line replacement in Precinct 3; and from AMP Texas Pipelines, LLC for a natural gas pipeline crossing for Brandt Road in Precinct 4.
The court will also look to proclaim the month of June as Salvation Army month in Washington County. In addition, commssioners will seek adoption of an order for a county right of way parade permit, and consider cancelling the meeting scheduled for June 11th.
Commissioners will meet tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
