According to a report from KBTX-TV 3, the mother of the child came to the Wee Care For All daycare in Brenham Monday to pick her child up, who she said was screaming.  She claimed staff called her Monday afternoon and told her the 16-month-old’s feet had been burned after going out onto the playground with no shoes on.

According to the mother, staff said she was sent out with no shoes on because earlier in the day she had health issues which led to her soiling her shoes.

A daycare employee sent the mother a photo of the daughter’s feet, which had several blisters.  The child was taken to the emergency room, where a doctor said the burns were second degree.

Brenham Police Sergeant Jason Derrick confirmed police began their investigation into the matter Monday.

KWHI reached out to the daycare director for comment, but was told by a man who answered the phone that she would not offer any comment at this time.  However, Assistant Director Aliyah Woodberry denied any wrongdoing of the daycare via Facebook, saying the child came into the daycare with the marks on her feet.

The child’s mother intends to take legal action.

  1. Prayers for this mother and child. And many blessings and prayers for Wee Care For All. I gladly take my children there daily and have encountered nothing short of fantastic and wonderful experiences. These workers treat my children like their own and then some. They are just hardworking and kind staff all around. It’s unfortunate that things happen and are blown up wildly on social media.

  2. This is extremely heartbreaking, I am still shedding tears over the tragic and unnecessary loss of Maleah Davis….when will THIS STOP!? Children are precious and innocent…they do not deserve this! I pray her healing and that corrective actions are taken.

  3. I have an in home daycare and would NOT let a child go barefoot outside! At 16 mos. a child should only be put in a baby swing outside or held by the provider.

  4. My grandchildren attend this daycare. I love these people. I could not ask for a better place for my grandchildren to be with a group of people who love them.

Pray for this daycare. We need them.
