Five Houston men charged in a series of burglaries at several Brazos Valley businesses in 2017 have been sentenced.

The men were seen on surveillance video stealing from Jumping World and Willie’s Ice House in College Station in December 2017.  The group was also convicted of burglarizing Koppe Bridge, Smitty K’s, and several restaurants in Navasota.

According to the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office, the men covered their faces with masks, hats or hoodies, then broke into the buildings by using a crowbar or smashing windows or glass doors.  In one instance, while searching for money, they attempted to use a grinder to break into a safe.

The five men were caught while in Koppe Bridge and arrested, with help from a DPS helicopter.

Each of the men plead guilty to engaging in organized criminal activity; however, due to their various involvement in the burglaries and criminal histories, they will serve different sentences.

24-year-old Trumaine Merritt was handed the largest sentence at 16 years in prison, while 24-year-old Christopher Cigar was sentenced to 12 years.  An eight-year sentence was given to 23-year-old Devante Webb, six years for 22-year-old Nigel Luchin, and 20-year-old Deshawn Webb will serve four years.
