UPDATE: POWER BACK ON FOR MEMBERS IN WASHINGTON, AUSTIN COUNTIES
Update @ 9:45 a.m.: Power has been restored to over 1,000 customers in Washington and Austin Counties, after an outage this (Friday) morning that lasted for several hours.
According to Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Public Affairs Manager Will Holford, the outage affected just over 1,100 members in southwestern Washington County and northern Austin County, between Burton and Bellville.
The outage was reported around 7 a.m., and was due to a blown arrestor at the Welcome substation. An arrestor is a device that protects electric equipment from lightning strikes.
Power was restored shortly after 9:30 a.m. Bluebonnet Electric thanks everyone for their patience during the outage.
Original Story @ 7:41 a.m.: Some area residents are reporting a current power outage.
The Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative website is reporting an outage affecting up to 1000 customers between Burton and Bellville.
The outages are in an area south of Highway 290 and east of Highway 237.
Officials with Bluebonnet Electric hope to have power restored by 8:30 a.m.
