Dr. Nicole Poenitzsch was announced as the lone finalist at the board’s meeting earlier this month.  She will be replacing the retiring superintendent Mike Coker.

Dr. Poenitzsch has served 14 years in education, with her latest role being the Assistant Superintendent of Learning and Innovation at Dripping Springs ISD, near Austin.

There, Dr. Poenitzsch has overseen the Learning and Innovation Department, which—according to her bio page on the Dripping Springs ISD website—covers all areas of teaching and learning for the district, including working closely with campus administrators to plan learning experiences for all students.

The district has not yet officially signed a contract with Dr. Poenitzsch, who currently resides in Sealy.  The district intends for her to begin her duties in Bellville by mid-July.
