CHAPPELL HILL PARADE GUNNER ANNOUNCED
The winning bid has been announced for the “Official Parade Gunner” for the beginning of the 4th of July parade in Chappell Hill.
Dr. Edward Bentley, former Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year, won the honor with a bid of $500. Dr. Bentley will assist with the opening ceremonies by firing off the Kingfisher Cannon, loaned to the Chamber courtesy of Roger and Paula Imm. He will also receive a commemorative tri-fold corner hat and miniature cannon.
This year’s parade will kick off at 10 a.m. with the firing of the cannon, followed by the Cool Rods Car Show and a performance from recording artist John Beland. This year’s Grand Marshal of the parade is Larry Neveux, a veteran of the United States Air Force. This year’s theme is “Chappell Hill – 172: Forever Red, White and Blue”, in celebration of the town’s 172nd birthday.
All parade entries are due today (Monday), and can be dropped off at Chappell Hill Bank or Brenham National Bank. To learn more, visit www.chappellhilltx.com.
KWHI will broadcast the parade from downtown Chappell Hill live Thursday morning, starting at 10 a.m. with KTEX-106’s Holly Ryder.
