FOURTH OF JULY EVENTS IN, AROUND WASHINGTON CO.
You don’t need to look far to find something to do this 4th of July, as several locations in Washington County and surrounding counties are hosting Independence Day events.
Here are just a few of the things going on around the area:
- Chappell Hill is preparing to host the annual “Biggest Small Town Parade in Texas”. Featuring the World Famous Marching Kazoo Band, the parade begins at 10 a.m. in downtown Chappell Hill. This year’s theme is “Chappell Hill – 172: Forever Red, White and Blue”, celebrating Chappell Hill’s 172nd birthday. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the “Cool Rods Car Show” and a performance from recording artist John Beland. KTEX-106’s Holly Ryder will be on-site for the parade, broadcasting live on KWHI starting at 10 a.m.
- Meanwhile, Independence will begin its activities downtown at 3 p.m. with food booths, games, a water balloon battle, and music from Steven Marshall. The Independence Day Parade begins at 5 p.m., followed by a street dance and live music from the Risky Liver Band. The evening concludes with a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. Holly Ryder will also be on hand.
- Round Top will be hosting its next installment of the oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration west of the Mississippi River. The 169th celebration will begin at 10 a.m. on the town square, with addresses from local dignitaries, firing of Round Top’s Civil War era cannon, a parade, and barbecue meal served at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall.
