SEALY POLICE ARREST MAN ON CHARGES INCLUDING BURGLARY, EVASION, CREDIT CARD ABUSE
A Sealy man is facing a laundry list of charges after his arrest on the 4th of July.
(Sealy Police Department)
29-year-old Michael Kelley was arrested by Sealy police officers, after they responded around 12:30 p.m. to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 400 block of Silliman Street. When they arrived, they found the vehicle abandoned in an open field between Silliman Street and the railroad tracks. The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen from Brazoria County.
Upon searching the area, officers located Kelley hiding in a garage, and quickly took him into custody following a brief foot chase.
Kelley was found to be in possession of several items not belonging to him, including debit and credit cards. It was also discovered that Kelley was responsible for multiple auto and residential burglaries. All property has been recovered, and will be returned to the owners.
Kelley was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle; Fleeing or Evading Arrest, Search, or Detention; Credit/Debit Card Abuse; Burglary of a Building; and two counts of Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. He was booked into the Austin County Jail on $90,000 bond.
Sealy police noted that in each burglary, it was found the owner failed to lock the doors and hide or remove valuables. Police remind the public to be vigilant in order to help reduce crime, and to lock their vehicles, remove or hide their valuables, and to never leave a firearm in a vehicle.
