BODY OF FLORIDA MAN FOUND IN DITCH IN SCHULENBURG

Fayette County agencies are investigating the death of a Florida man whose body was found Tuesday in a ditch near I-10 in Schulenburg.

According to Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek, officers received a report at approximately 7:45 p.m. of a body found near the intersection of East Avenue and Huser Boulevard.  They identified the body as that of 60-year-old Ricky Tucker of Florida.

Brenek said the cause of death is unknown at this point, and the Schulenburg Police Department is “actively investigating the case”.  It has not yet been determined if there was foul play involved.  Officials are awaiting the results of an autopsy.

According to Brenek, Tucker was recently released from the Fayette County Jail, after DPS arrested him for possession of a dangerous drug.  Brenek said he suspected Tucker’s vehicle was impounded in Weimar, and believed he was making his way back there when the death occurred.

Brenek thanked the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and DPS for their assistance with the case, and said the police department’s thoughts are with the family of the deceased.  He added that anyone with information on the case is encouraged to contact Schulenburg police at 979-743-2677.
