ROUND TOP-CARMINE ISD ANNOUNCES FREE, REDUCED-PRICE MEAL PLAN DETAILS

Round Top-Carmine ISD has announced its policy for providing free and reduced-price meals for students.

Starting August 20th, the school district will begin sending out letters to households in the district regarding eligibility benefits and any actions they need to take to apply for benefits.

Several criteria will be used to determine a child’s eligibility for meal benefits.  These include a child’s status as a foster, homeless, runaway, migrant, or displaced by a declared disaster, as well as their enrollment in the Head Start or Pre-K Even Start programs.

Households that qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on income will need to fill out a free application providing personal information.  The applications can be returned to school district secretary Linda McCulloch at 608 North Washington Street in Round Top.

The district is working with local agencies to identify all children who are categorically and program eligible.  It will notify the households of these children that they do not need to complete an application.

Each school, along with the district’s central office, has a copy of the policy which can be reviewed by anyone on request.
