ONE DEAD AFTER BOAT ACCIDENT ON LAKE SOMERVILLE

One person is dead after a boat sank Friday night on Lake Somerville.

According to Washington County Game Warden Kyle Yoder, the sunken boat was found while he and Game Warden Jayme DeSchaaf were responding to another call concerning a possible stolen boat.

The two were able to rescue three men from the water, but a fourth was reported missing from the sinking.  After using side scan sonar to search for the missing person, the wardens recovered a body at around 1:45 a.m. this (Saturday) morning.

Yoder said no one was wearing life jackets when the boat capsized.  The boat was also said to have been loaded down with a generator, fishing gear and other personal belongings.

The name of the deceased was withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
