IDENTITY RELEASED OF MAN KILLED IN BOAT ACCIDENT ON LAKE SOMERVILLE

The identity of a man killed over the weekend in a boating accident on Lake Somerville has been released.

35-year-old Roger Antoine Johnson of Dime Box was killed when the boat he and three other men were riding capsized.

The sunken boat was found Friday night by Game Wardens Kyle Yoder and Jayme DeSchaaf, while they were responding to a non-related call involving a possible stolen boat.

Three men were rescued from the water, but Johnson was reported missing from the sinking.  The wardens would later recover Johnson’s body at around 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning.  Johnson was pronounced dead at 2:13 a.m. by Burleson County Precinct Four Judge Robert Urbanosky.

According to Yoder, no one was wearing life jackets when the boat capsized.  Wardens also said the boat was loaded down with a generator, fishing gear and other personal belongings, which caused the boat to sink.
