BURTON ISD ANNOUNCES GUIDELINES FOR FREE, REDUCED-PRICE MEALS
Burton ISD has announced its policy for providing free and reduced-price meals for students.
The district has begun sending out letters to households in the district about eligibility benefits and any actions they need to take to apply for benefits.
Several criteria will be used to determine eligibility for benefits. These include household income; a child’s status as a foster, homeless, runaway, migrant, or displaced by a declared disaster; and a child’s enrollment in the Head Start or Even Start programs.
Applications are available at the elementary and high school offices. They can be submitted at any time during the school year.
The district is working with local agencies to identify all children who are categorically and program eligible. It will notify the households of these children that they do not need to complete an application.
Each school and the district’s central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by anyone on request.
Anyone who needs more information or has questions can contact Susan Lombardo at slombardo@stu.burtonisd.net, or at 979-289-3830.
