HUMBLE MAN PLEADS GUILTY, RECEIVES 15 YEARS FOR GRIMES. CO KILLING

An Humble man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder.

Tyrus Peters
(Grimes Co. Jail)

22-year-old Tyrus Peters pled guilty last week to the 2016 murder of David Brown.  According to the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, Peters asked to accept the plea agreement which he previously rejected, as he was set to go on trial for the killing.

When given the choice of continuing with the trial or allowing Peters to take the plea agreement, the family of Brown opted to accept the plea deal over the trial.

Texas Rangers and Grimes County investigators said Peters shot Brown at a Stoneham residence on April 12, 2016, over a debt.

The case was previously tried before a Grimes County jury in 2017, which resulted in a hung jury.  Peters remains in custody at the Grimes County Jail.
