CONSTRUCTION BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 17TH ON RODNEY STREET FROM SOUTH DAY TO SOUTH AUSTIN
The City of Brenham Street Department will soon begin reconstruction on Rodney Street.
Starting next Tuesday, September 17th, crews will be working on Rodney Street from South Day Street to South Austin Street. Reconstruction will last approximately three days, weather permitting. The roadway will be done in phases throughout this time period.
During the time of construction and through the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., this section of roadway will be limited to vehicular traffic throughout the work zones. City staff will work with businesses and residents to get access as needed, throughout the process.
During reconstruction, the drive-thru for Citizens State Bank will be closed from roughly 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Customers who have questions can either call the bank at 979-251-8844, or City of Brenham Street Department Superintendent Brian Smith at 979-337-7222.
Reconstruction will involve tilling up the existing roadway, grading the sub-base, and adding bulk cement to stabilize the sub-base. After applying cement, a two-inch asphalt layer will be added to the new roadbed, which should improve the street surface for several years to come.
As with any construction project, there may be dusty conditions, especially as cement is added to the roadway. Citizens are asked to be patient with crews and work zones. They are also asked to park all cars in driveways or off the roadways between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
