NEW WATER RATE STRUCTURE FOR CITY OF BRENHAM BEGINS OCTOBER 1ST

Starting in just under three weeks, Brenham residents will see an increase of about a dollar on their water bills.

Back on August 15th, the Brenham City Council approved changes to the rate tariff schedule for the cost of water services.

Under the new rate structure, the average monthly residential water bill—based on 5,000 consumption gallons—will increase 99 cents from $24.79 to $25.78.  That 4 percent increase becomes effective October 1st.

According to the 2019 Texas Municipal League Survey, the average bill for residences in cities of 15,000 to 20,000 people is $31.40.

Last December, the city hired NewGen Strategies and Solutions, LLC to update the city’s water rate model and recommend water rate changes, based on new cost of service projections and consumption estimates.  The city last increased its water rates in 2008.

  1. New World Order is ushered in. It’s happening EVERYWHERE. Don’t be surprised when our 1st and 2nd amendment are taken away. This is an agenda much bigger than the town of Brenham. You dont believe me,do some research. Agenda 21, Agenda 2030,Agenda 2050. These are about decreasing the population, power, control, and money. You can’t make this stuff up.

  2. It seems the only reason we ELECT city “officials” these days is to then hire outside UNELECTED “consultants” to make the rules we have to live by. Sure, THEY have to do STUDIES to get up to speed. By definition, the people we ELECTED are IN the district they
represent and KNOW the environment already. We are already paying them to DO the job, not rehire it out and pay them also (with a not small CONSULTING FEE built in.) Really negates governing of the people by the people.

    1. If they don’t hire outside consultants for strategic plans, comprehensive plans, etc., then they get criticized for making decisions without any evidence, experience, or the advice of experts. In this particular case, how do you think the city mgt. should approach such a decision?

      1. City of brenham isn’t spending that much money y’all waist more the u supposed to be spending on unnecessary things

      2. The elections for city officials were held this spring. Voters approved the current leadership and their aggressive plans for the budget …and that impacts taxpayers. You received the government you voted for!
