GRASS, STRUCTURE FIRE IN WASHINGTON CO. REQUIRES MULTIPLE VOLUNTEER DEPARTMENTS
Several local fire departments battled a grass and structure fire in northeast Washington County Friday afternoon.
Meyersville and Prairie Hill volunteer firefighters were called out at 2:30 p.m. to a fire in the 10000 block of Palestine Road, in the Sandy Hill area. The Washington and Chappell Hill volunteer departments also responded, along with CERT for rehab.
According to Meyersville Fire Chief Alan Winkelmann, a total of three acres burned, including a brush pile and an old abandoned house.
Firefighters were at the scene for about two and a half hours. It is unknown what caused the fire at this point, but it is believed to have been accidental.
