NEW RECORD FOR TOTAL SALES SET AT JUNIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION

  

Thursday night’s Junior Livestock Auction at the 151st Washington County Fair set a new record for total sales.

This year’s unofficial numbers for the sale hit $814,450, breaking 2016’s record of $774,850.

Meanwhile, three individual records fell for Grand and Reserve Champion sales.

Grand Champion livestock broke two records, selling a total of $65,250. Adilynn Lange’s Grand Champion Broiler set a new record at $10,750, which sold to Metropolitan Water Company.  The Grand Champion Carcass Hogs of Hank Majewski also broke a record, selling for $12,000 to Aspen Midstream.

The Grand Champion Steer of Cooper Janosky sold to Philips Veterinary Hospital and Washington County Tractor for $12,000. The Grand Champion Barrow of Alldyn Schroeder went to J&J Packing for $9,500.

Wyatt Gardner’s Grand Champion Goats sold for $6,000 to Washington Animal Clinic and J&J Packing. The Grand Champion Rabbits of Kaylin Jacobs sold for $5,500 to Metropolitan Water Company.  The Grand Champion Turkeys of Kade Jackson sold for $5,250 to Washington County Tractor.  Carmen Niemeyer’s Grand Champion Lambs went to Brenham Dodge, Hodde Real Estate and Metal and More for $4,250.

Reserve Champions this year brought in $41,750, breaking one record. The Reserve Champion Goats of Samuel Symm sold for $8,000 to several buyers: Thielemann Construction, Metal and More, Pooltex American, Hermann Alarms, Stegent-Thielemann Plumbing, David and Wanda Hermann, David Hermann Electric, and Capital Farm Credit.

The Reserve Champion Steer of McKenzie Tiemann sold for $7,500 to Aspen Midstream. Paige Marth’s Reserve Champion Broilers sold to Barbara Powell for $6,000.

The Reserve Champion Carcass Hogs of Jax Antkowiak were purchased by Collier Construction and PlanNorth for $4,750. Houston Hodde’s Reserve Champion Barrows sold for $4,500 to Robert’s Service Station and Grocery.  The Reserve Champion Lambs and Turkeys of Duncan Dybesland and Meg Rodriquez each sold for $4,000, both to J&J Packing.  The Reserve Champion Rabbits shown by Mylo Reeves sold to Aspen Midstream for $3,000.

This year’s Grand and Reserve Champions altogether sold for $107,000.

Last year’s sale brought in $755,500. Last year’s Grand Champions brought in $54,000, while Reserve Champions reached $39,750.  Grand and Reserve Champions last year totaled $93,750, $13,250 less than this year’s Champions.
