A&M SOPHOMORE STRUCK BY TEEN DRIVER LOSES LIFE

A Texas A&M student, struck by an alleged teen drunk driver a week ago, has died.
19-year old Carly Beatty died a week after she was struck, while walking home with friends, early last Sunday morning.
Beatty, a 2018 graduate of Centennial High School in Frisco, and a veterinary science major at A&M, was hit while crossing Texas Avenue in College Station. Police say 17-year old Pedro Puga, of Bryan admitted to taking Xanax and cocaine before driving the car that struck Beatty.
Puga led police on a brief chase, and told authorities upon his arrest, “I don’t deal with laws.”
Puga was originally arrested and charged with intoxication assault, evading arrest and fleeing the scene of an accident. He was released on $26,000 bond, but later arrested on additional charges. He remains in custody enlieu of $250,000 bond.
College Station police say additional charges will likely come from the Grand Jury reviewing the case.
