REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SCARECROW EXTRAVAGANZA IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM

  

Online registration is now open for the 16th Annual Scarecrow Extravaganza, presented by Main Street Brenham.

The free event is a local favorite, inviting the community to celebrate the coming of fall by decorating downtown Brenham with a colorful display of scarecrows.

This year, over $1,700 in prizes will be given away in eight categories, including a top prize of $400.  This year's categories are:

  • ‘Best Use of Corn’ – sponsored by The Pomegranate – will award $150.00 to the scarecrow display with the best use of a corn element.
  • ‘Best Use of Autumn Leaves’ – sponsored by The Canyon Chick – will award $150.00 to the scarecrow with the best use of leaf elements.
  • ‘Best Use of Pumpkin(s)’ – sponsored by Tres Chic – will award $150.00 for the scarecrow with the best use of pumpkin elements.
  • ‘Best Football Theme’ scarecrow display will be awarded $150.00 by Branded Boutique.
  • ‘Best Halloween Theme’ scarecrow display will be awarded $150.00 by Must Be Heaven.
  • ‘Classic Scarecrow Award’ – sponsored by Hermann Furniture and Timeless Designs Market – will be presented to the scarecrow display that best represents your traditional scarecrow display at $300.00.
  • ‘Crowd Favorite’ – sponsored by Volares Restaurant and 4 Star Concert Hall & Sports Bar – will be presented to the scarecrow display that receives the most online and ballot votes at $300.00.
  • The final prize at $400.00 will be presented to the scarecrow display that is deemed as the ‘Judges Favorite’ – sponsored by KWHI/KTEX, Las Americas Latin Cuisine Restaurant, and Eric Benitez-Realtor.

Registration is open through next Monday, September 30th.  All registrations must be submitted online; paper applications will not be accepted.  Participants are required to provide their own hay bale and scarecrow materials.

Scarecrows will need to be set up in downtown Brenham by October 13th.  Voting begins on the 14th, and runs through November 1st.

All winners will be determined by Main Street Brenham’s Promotions Committee, apart from the ‘Crowd Favorite’ award. The Promotions Committee consists of: Tom Whitehead, Main Street Board Member and KWHI/KTEX Owner; Aleesa Hardage, Timeless Designs Owner; Brad Stufflebeam, Home Sweet Farms and Scenic Hill Retreat Owner; Traci Pyle, Must Be Heaven Owner; Amber Westerfeld, J&A Roofing Owner; Wendy Meaux, Downtown Building Owner; Brandi Conaway, D&B Endeavors Owner; and Shannan & JR Canales, Las Americas Latin Cuisine Restaurant Owners.
