GIDDINGS ISD, POLICE: NO TRUTH TO THREAT RUMORS AT HIGH SCHOOL
Police and school officials in Giddings say recent reports of violence at the high school are nothing more than rumors and misinformation.
A statement Thursday from Giddings ISD says rumors were spreading at the high school about students threatening violence against others.
School administrators say the rumors were immediately investigated, and that every aspect of the investigation by the school and police “failed to yield any credible evidence of a threat or a list of any kind”.
The district says all information was deemed to be a rumor with no credibility, but that rumor continued to be spread by students and adults on social media.
Giddings police say they are not actively investigating the matter.
The school district says it has policies in place to deal with incidences and threats of violence, and that it takes all threats seriously. It also says repeating rumors and spreading false information with no credibility “only creates fear and makes it more difficult for the district to respond in these situations”.
