BLINN TRUSTEES TO CONSIDER DISTRICTWIDE MASTER PLAN, NEW HOUSING AT BRENHAM CAMPUS

The Blinn Board of Trustees will consider officially moving forward with the first districtwide facilities master plan in the college’s history at its meeting tomorrow (Tuesday).

Back on October 3rd, the board discussed potentially developing the master plan, along with plans for new student housing on the Brenham campus.  At this meeting, the board will look to seek proposals to develop a districtwide plan, and requests for qualifications for new student housing.

The proposed master plan would cover Blinn’s entire 13-county service area, which includes Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Fayette, Grimes, Lee, Madison, Waller, and Washington Counties, and parts of Milam, Montgomery, Robertson, and Walker Counties.

Blinn Chancellor Dr. Mary Hensley said at the October 3rd meeting that the College needs to consider Waller County as a viable avenue for growth in the future.

Also at tomorrow’s meeting, the board will hear proposals for central plant modifications and upgrades at the Brenham campus. It will also consider a resolution in honor of former trustee W. Richard Powell and his wife, Barbara, regarding the library.

After meeting in executive session, trustees will then discuss an operating agreement with the Texas Historical Commission, regarding operation of the Star of the Republic Museum.

The board will meet tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m., in the W.L. Moody, Jr. Library on the Brenham Campus.
