Blinn College’s Veterinary Technology Program ranks highly in preparing students to pass the national board examination on their first attempt.

Over the past three years, Blinn graduates averaged a 92.86 percent first-time pass rate on the Veterinary Technician National Exam, one of two tests required to become a licensed veterinary technician (LVT).

That pass rate ranks first among Texas community colleges, and 17th out of the 183 nationwide veterinary technology programs that reported their results.

Veterinary Technology Program Director Dr. Catherine Pfent said the high ranking is “a testament” to the quality of the College’s faculty and the dedication of its students.  She said the College’s program, coupled with small class size and diverse clinical affiliate support, prepares graduates to succeed on their exams and equips them with the tools needed to “embark on a rewarding career”.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, veterinary technicians earn a median salary of $34,420 per year.  Between 2018 and 2028, the demand for veterinary technicians is expected to grow 19 percent, creating an additional 21,100 jobs nation-wide.

The next application cycle for Fall 2020 will open in the spring.  For more information regarding Blinn’s Veterinary Technology Program, visit www.blinn.edu/veterinary-technology.
