A Katy man, arrested for drunk driving in Brazos County when he allegedly injured a local deputy and firefighter working an accident Sunday, has been released on bond.

20-year old Avery Anthony Jimenez was arrested and charged with two counts of intoxication assault and possession of marijuana.

He was released Monday afternoon on bonds totaling $32,000.

Both Navasota Firefighter David Kearney and Grimes County Deputy Swank Backhus suffered injuries, after Jimenez allegedly slammed into the back of a Grimes County Sheriff's Deputy vehicle on Highway 6 south of Navasota just after midnight, Sunday.

The two were assisting with a separate fatality accident that claimed the life of Porscha Crawford of Navasota.
