VETERANS DAY CELEBRATIONS BEGIN THURSDAY AT KRAUSE ELEMENTARY

Washington County will soon celebrate Veterans Day, with activities beginning as soon as tomorrow (Thursday).

Brenham ISD begins its series of Veterans Day programs tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Krause Elementary School cafeteria.  Programs will follow on Monday at Brenham Elementary, Alton Elementary, Brenham Middle, Brenham Junior High, and Brenham High Schools.

Monday’s activities begin at 7 a.m. at the VFW Post on 1200 East Tom Green Street, with a breakfast for veterans and a guest.  Doors will open at 6 a.m.

Monday’s ceremony at the American Legion Hall at Fireman’s Park will begin at 11 a.m.  The featured speaker will be Joe Ramirez, Jr., retired Brigadier General and Commandant of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.  Following the ceremony, there will be a cakewalk and a barbecue beef and pork sausage lunch.

Washington County Veterans Association President Ben Seeker reminds the public that Veterans Day is a day of celebration.

Because Brenham High School has limited parking, a bus will be provided leaving from the American Legion Hall at 8:45 a.m., and will return at approximately 10:50 a.m. in time for the 11 a.m. program at the American Legion Hall.  KWHI will begin its live broadcast of the ceremony at 10:45 a.m.
