ENERGY SAVINGS COMPANY PRESENTS PROPOSAL TO BURTON SCHOOL BOARD
The Burton School Board met Monday night to hear a presentation from an energy savings company.

Members of Ideal Impact, Inc., a company based out of Grapevine, presented an energy savings/conservation program to the board. The company was founded in 2009 with a core mission of reducing energy waste, and works to help schools and ministries with energy savings solutions.
Adam Segovis, partnership developer with Ideal Impact, said over ten years the company has partnered with over 115 school districts across the state of Texas, and over 750 Christian ministries. He said $1.3 billion has been put back to its ministry and school district partners.
Segovis said the company’s basic financial structure diverts money paid by the school district to a utility company, putting part of it back into the district’s budget. He said it is a “positive cash flow from the start”, with all savings guaranteed and “no financial risk to the district whatsoever”.
Segovis said the company’s analysis showed that Burton ISD paid $90,476 in energy costs from July of 2018 to June of 2019, consisting of mainly electric energy. He said the figures did not account for liquid propane charges, as they were difficult to quantify.

According to Segovis, with one of the company’s saving packages, the district would be guaranteed to save at least $14,941 a year over the course of the five year agreement, which itself would cost the district $61,972 for services outlined in the agreement. He said the guarantee for the project is $74,706, so if the district passed the agreement, it would pay $61,972 to get $74,706 in guaranteed savings.
No action was taken on the proposal by the board.
Also at Monday night’s meeting, Burton FFA practiced a pair of performances for an upcoming competition. The FFA’s public relations and creed speaking teams will compete Monday, November 18th at in the Bluebonnet District Leadership Development Conference at Blinn College.
