Crystal Locke was named Young Professional of the Year at the society’s annual awards ceremony on November 15th.
As Brenham’s Community Services Specialist, Locke is responsible for planning and coordinating more than a dozen programs within the city, including spring training baseball camp, Walk with a Doc, Intro to Pickleball, Movies in the Park, Hot Nights Cool Tunes, Breakfast with Santa, and the Christmas Stroll and Lighted Parade.
Public Works Director Dane Rau said Locke, who has been with the city for 16 years, “always looks for ways to improve the quality of life for all citizens” and “provides a ray of sunshine to each organization she works with.
Some other projects of Locke include serving as the Project Lead for the Brenham Parks and Recreation System Master Plan; creating the city’s Parks and Rec annual guide for citizens that highlights programs and amenities; and helping implement the sport of Pickleball in Brenham, with new courts opened this year.
Washington County Chamber of Commerce President Wende Ragonis said Locke “understands the value of community input and is eager to listen, so she can offer the best solution to the challenge at hand”.
