FORMER LOCAL BANK EXECUTIVE, WASHINGTON CO. FAIR SUPPORTER RICHARD FORST DIES
A Brenham bank executive and prominent voice in Washington County has died.
Richard Forst died Thursday in Bryan. He was 79 years old.
Originally from Indiana, Forst moved to Brenham in 1978 and served as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Brenham National Bank for 23 years, before retiring in 2018. For many years, he was the voice of Brenham National Bank’s commercials on KWHI.
Forst was also an avid supporter of the Washington County Fair. For years, he voiced the Washington County Fair Junior Heifer Show. He also served on the Washington County Fair Board and as President of the Fair, where he was instrumental in adding Gospel Day to the fair’s activities.
Upon moving to Brenham, he joined the First Christian Church and served as worship leader, taught Sunday school, served as an elder, and occasionally preached. When he and his wife, Mary Lynne, moved to Round Top in 2004, he joined the Round Top Christian Fellowship, led the men’s Bible study, and served as substitute preacher.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Burial will be at Lake Bethel Cemetery in La Grange, Indiana.
