WASHINGTON CO. COURTHOUSE LIGHTING, CEREMONY WEDNESDAY NIGHT

With the holiday season nearly here, Washington County Judge John Durrenberger and City of Brenham Mayor Milton Tate invite the community out tomorrow (Wednesday) night for the lighting of the courthouse square and the downtown Brenham area.

The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the north side of the courthouse, with the lighting at 6 p.m.  Families are invited to bring their children to visit with Santa Claus, who will be at the lighting ceremony tomorrow night.

Last week, work crews raised and mounted a 50-foot counter balanced flagpole onto the courthouse roof, replacing the out-of-service radio tower.  According to county officials, the new pole allows for twice the amount of Christmas lights than the radio tower.

In addition to the new flagpole and brighter Christmas lights on the pole, all of the old lights on the trees on the courthouse lawn have been replaced with new ones.
