HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES IN BRAZOS VALLEY CONTINUE THIS WEEKEND
As the holiday season continues, there are still plenty of things to do this weekend to get into the festive spirit.
Here are some of the events going on in the area this weekend:
- Burton will host a Christmas Market Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum and Roy Winkler Family Pavilion. Homemade and handmade goods will be available for purchase, while children can take photos with Santa, and make gingerbread houses and other Christmas crafts. - Chappell Hill will have a slate of activities Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. with the Christmas Home Tour, hosted by the Chappell Hill Garden Club. Visitors to Chappell Hill can tour five different properties, all decorated in holiday splendor. There will also be entertainment from the Houston Shimmer Flute Choir and Round Top Ruggers Rug Show. Tickets are available at the Bluebonnet House and Garden Center at 5095 Main Street, or by visiting www.chappellhillgardenclub.com. Saturday afternoon will also have the annual Teddy Bear Parade, beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Rock Store on 5070 Main Street. Following the parade, Mr. and Mrs. Claus will stop by. Mrs. Claus will host a story time with punch and cookies, while Santa will visit with children, listen to their Christmas wishes, and pose for photos. - Caldwell’s Christmas on the Square gets underway tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m., featuring live music, photos with Santa and the Grinch, bounce houses, the lighting of the town square, and the lighted parade through downtown. To learn more, visit www.burlesoncountytx.com.
- Downtown Navasota will host its Home for the Holidays celebration Saturday starting at noon. Families can enjoy activities including ice skating, a Christmas train, inflatables, and photos with Santa. - Anderson will host the second annual Anderson Holiday Fest Saturday. From 2 to 10 p.m., performers such as Johnny Lee, Rick Trevino, Jason Cassidy, and Bri Bagwell will take the stage at the Grimes County Courthouse. In addition, food trucks and vendors will be onsite, Santa will make an appearance, and there will be a hot dog eating contest. - Fayetteville will host its 23rd Annual Country Christmas and Home Tour Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. Attendees can tour several residences, or stop by downtown for the pet costume contest, horse-drawn carriage rides, and the lighted parade at 6 p.m. Visit www.fayettevilletxchamber.org to learn more.
- Christmas at the Winedale Historical Complex in Round Top is set for Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., featuring tours of the period-furnished historic homes at the site. There will also be demonstrations of blacksmithing, quilting, woodworking, lace making, and weaving. In addition, there will be folk-life presentations, music, and theatrical performances. KTEX-106’s Blake Hickerson, Holly Ryder, and Trail Boss Troy will be out and about throughout the weekend. Blake will be broadcasting live from Caldwell and driving in the parade, Holly will be in Chappell Hill, and Trail Boss Troy will be broadcasting live from Navasota.
