CALDWELL, SNOOK SCHOOLS HOSTING “CHRISTMAS WITH A COP” FRIDAY

Caldwell and Snook ISDs are partnering with Burleson County law enforcement to host “Christmas with a Cop” Friday afternoon.

At least one student from grades 4-8 in each school district are nominated for the program by their teacher and selected by their principal.  The student must be from a low-income family and currently attending school in good standing.  The student must also show consistent improvement in class.

Once selected from the nominations, the student will be assigned a police officer, Sheriff’s deputy, or school resource officer.  The student will be picked up after school by the officer in a marked patrol vehicle.

Students will then ride in the vehicle to the Caldwell Walmart, and will be allowed to pick out one gift for each of their household members.  At the end of their gift selections, students will be allowed to choose a gift for themselves.

Students will then be taken to the Caldwell Fire Department and fed lunch, compliments of the American Red Cross.  Volunteers from schools, law enforcement, juvenile probation and Red Cross will serve lunch and treats, and wrap their gifts for family members.  Students will then be taken back to their homes, where they can present their families with gifts.

Event organizers say the goal of the program is to promote relationships with deserving students, their families, and the community between law enforcement and Burleson County schools.
