CALDWELL MAN INDICTED FOR MURDER, TAMPERING CHARGES IN DEATH OF ARKANSAS MAN

A Caldwell man accused in the shooting death of an Arkansas man has been indicted by a Burleson County Grand Jury.

Michael McFarlane
(Burleson Co. Jail)

35-year-old Michael Leonard McFarlane was indicted last week for Murder, as well as one second and one third-degree felony count of Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, in connection to the death of 36-year-old Zachary Rockwell of Arkansas.

According to Burleson County Attorney Susan Deski, the second-degree count stems from the burial of Rockwell’s body in a hidden grave, while the third-degree count alleges McFarlane tried to get rid of evidence at the scene.

Rockwell’s body was found July 9th at Cade Lake, northwest of Caldwell, after he was reported missing by family members.  Preliminary autopsy results showed a gunshot wound to the head as the cause of death, but final autopsy results are still pending with the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office.

McFarlane is currently free on $270,000 bond.

  1. Yes, he is. I posted a comment when he was arrested questioning the bond, but it was not posted.

    1. I don’t understand why he is able to be out walking the streets after committing murder and hiding the body he’s obviously a danger to the public this is very upsetting.
