WESTBOUND LANES OF HIGHWAY 290 SLOWED AFTER 18-WHEELER ACCIDENT NEAR SOUTH TEXAS TACK
Update @ 3:45 p.m.: Traffic is still experiencing slowdowns in the westbound lanes of Highway 290 near South Texas Tack, following an accident this (Friday) morning involving a FedEx truck and an 18-wheeler.
According to DPS Trooper Byron Elders, the FedEx truck was stopping for another vehicle turning right into South Texas Tack, when an 18-wheeler hauling bottled water pallets made trailer-to-trailer impact with the FedEx truck. According to Elders, the trailer of the truck hauling water bottles split in half.
No injuries have been reported, according to Elders and DPS Sergeant Alease Wilson.
Crews are still working on cleaning up the roadway. The outside lane of Highway 290 westbound is still closed, but the inside lane is open.
Original Story @ 11:10 a.m.: The westbound lanes of Highway 290 just outside of Brenham near South Texas Tack are currently shut down, following an accident this (Friday) morning involving an 18-wheeler.
DPS Sergeant Alease Wilson said the crash has blocked both westbound lanes of Highway 290.
Wilson said no injuries have been reported, but clean up at the scene of the accident could take a while, due to a large amount of water bottles strewn across the highway.
