WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO LOOK AT FIBER CONNECTIVITY PROJECT

Washington County Commissioners will meet Monday to consider a project to allow for better fiber connectivity for communications.

The court will act on expending funds for a fiber connectivity project, extending the fiber loop network from the county’s central warehouse to Brenham City Hall, and allowing for communications for Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP).

County Information Technology Director T.J. Harris said the Brazos Valley Council of Governments, with project approval, will provide a new circuit for local 911 facilities.

Harris said the backup circuit will not only provide redundancy and resiliency in the event the primary circuit fails, but will also allow room for growth and future expansion of the network and operations for both the county and Brenham ISD.

Also in court Monday, commissioners will consider:

  • Approval of the 2020 renewal contract for participation in the Washington County rotation log for towing services for abandoned, impounded, junked and disabled vehicles.
  • Approval of a resolution for the County Judge to enter into contracts for participation in the Washington County rotation log for towing services for abandoned, impounded, junked and disabled vehicles with towing companies in the county, for the safety and protection of individuals forced into non-consent tow situations.
  • Approval of the FY 2020 Statewide Automated Victim Notification Service maintenance grant contract between the Office of the Attorney General and Washington County.
  • Renewal of a service agreement with Appriss, Inc. for the Victim Information and Notification Everyday program.
  • An inter-local contract between the county and the Department of Information Resources (DIR) related to the use of the DIR Shared Services Master Service Agreements.
  • Reports from several county departments.

Commissioners will meet Monday morning at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
