DRIVER KILLED IN HIGHWAY 6 COLLISION SOUTH OF NAVASOTA AFTER RUNNING STOP SIGN
One person was killed and another person injured in a Saturday night collision on Highway 6 in Grimes County.
According to DPS, 24-year-old Warren Samuel of Port Arthur was driving eastbound on Highway 2, about seven miles south of Navasota, in a 2016 Ford Fusion. According to DPS, around 10:15 p.m., Samuel’s vehicle ran the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 6, and collided with a southbound 2006 Mercedes Benz driven by 24-year-old Omar Kashu of Richardson.
Samuel was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports say Samuel was a correctional officer at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Luther Unit in Grimes County.
Kashu was transported to an area hospital with what authorities believe are not life-threatening injuries. Investigation into the accident continues.
