CALDWELL CITY HALL PROJECT ‘ON SCHEDULE’
Construction continues on the new Caldwell City Hall.
The project’s architect, Jerry Hill of Lufkin says a 2020 completion date remains likely.
According to Hill, the 375-foot retaining wall between the city offices and the elevated city council chambers is just about complete, and IKLO Construction crews of Houston are working on the metal studs on the city council meeting room building.
Additionally, the 30-foot bridge over the wall to connect the main building to the council chambers is still under construction. And, the steel framing for the drive-in window on Shaw Street is still under construction.
Crews will next start work on the parking lot in the back on the south side of the building and work on the roof on the city hall building sometime in mid-January.
Hill also said IKLO officials will meet with Caldwell city officials, Monday, for a status report on their progress.
The new building will include a council chamber, offices for the mayor, city administrator, city secretary, Main Street manager, comptroller, utility billing and a break room.
The city council approved a $4.9 million contract in August of 2018 with IKLO.
