FAYETTE CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARNING OF PHONE SCAM
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is cautioning citizens of a reported phone scam involving someone claiming to be from the county clerk’s office.
According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the caller claims they are with the Fayette County Clerk’s office, and says the victim needs to send in $500 or they will go to jail.
The Sheriff’s Office says the phone number that appears is 979-968-8531, which is a fax number for the clerk’s office.
If anyone receives a call like this, or a scam call of any kind, they are urged to not send any money and report it to law enforcement.
